Menurut saya lagu ini seperti sebuah cerita,,,  di awal lirik terdapat
"To the right I could see a church

bahwa dia sedang mempunyai 2 pilihan, yang diumpamakan seperti diatas,, yaitu antara baik atau jalan kanan yang terdapat Gereja, dan dijalur kiri yang terdapat wiskey yang memabukkan. dan disini dia terlihat kebingungan kenapa saya dapat bilang kebingungan ini terlihat di reff nya yang mengatakan

Tapi pada akhirnya dia tidak memilih jalan keduanya, tapi dia memilih jalan di tengah, yaitu campuran dari keduanya, ini terlihat di :

 Tapi ternyata dia tersadar bahwa jalan tengah yang dipilih tidak jauh lebih baik dari jalur kiri, ini terlihat di :
"The left isn't better it's just more of the same"

Jadi kesimpulan saya adalah:
Lagu ini berisi tentang sebuah pilihan dari kehidupan dimana kita harus memilih pilihan yang sulit,, tapi sebaiknya dalam memilih pilihan jangan setengah-setengah seperti dalam lagu diatas yang memilih jalan tengah, padahal apa yang dilakukan setengah setengah itu tidak baik.
