Judul "Beast and the harlot" jika di terjemahkan bisa berbunyi "binatang buas dan pelacur", dan isi dari lagu ini sebenarnya adalah tentang runtuhnya babel (Babylon the great) yang telah ditulis di kitab wahyu bab 17, dan lirik lagu ini adalah representasi dari wahyu bab 17 itu.

Sebenarnya banyak sekali tafsiran dari bab ini di internet, jadi saya hanya akan menjelaskan beberapa yang ada hubunganya dengan lagu ini.

bagian diatas menjelaskan terdapat sebuah kota yang sangat mewah, bahkan disebut kota itu bersinar dan dibuat dari emas akan tetapi kota tersebut juga disebut kota iblis "city of evil" kota ini dilambangkan sebagai seorang wanita (pelacur), dan didekatnya terdapat hewan buas yang memiliki tujuh kepala dan 10 tanduk.

Pada bagian ini disebutkan sifat (yang semuanya adalah hal negatif) dari pelacur  ini, sebutan pelacur disini adalah tentang kota tersebut). pada bagian akhir dari reff "Fallen now is Babylon the Great." akan runtuh, bahkan ditegaskan dengan bagian ini "Her place will come all at once as mourners watch her burn.
Destroyed in an hour."

Tony Petrossian yang menjadi sutradara dari video clip lagu ini mengatakan bahwa M. Shadows menulis lirik ini karena membandingkan Babilon dengan Hollywood, karena banyak pemuda dan anak anak tidak bersalah menjadi rusak dan kehilangan jiwa mereka.
